MAA PEN PALS
For the last nine weeks, Mrs. Christina Rollins 4th grade class at Suncrest Primary has been pen pals with the Susan Witt's watercolor class. The fourth graders are studying cursive writing and exchanging pen pal notes with the art students was a way to practice and learn to read cursive. It was a really great experience for both. As a final surprise it was arranged for the students to meet their pen pals and to get an art lesson at the gallery. The children were very excited to meet their pen pals and the MAA members were just as excited to meet them. They were very good artistS and it was fun to see them working with their pen pals.

Make artwork like Rembrandt!  Even if drawing is challenging for you, this printmaking class guarantees success.  Drypoint printmaking uses plexiglass to imprint images.  Because Plexiglass is clear artwork can be traced from sketchbooks, photographs, or other images.  Using the dry point printmaking method, we will scratch into plexiglass to create an image. To make a print, the scratched plate is inked all over, then wiped off the surface leaving only ink in the scratched lines. The plate is then put through a press together with a sheet of paper, making a print. This process can be repeated many times to make several prints. Drypoint offers the ability to explore line quality and detail in drawing.   You will leave with prints perfect for framing.
