Takeaways:
Our MAA members had a blast on Thursday, February 27th, painting tiles at our February Kappa Tau! The event was filled with creativity, laughter, and lots of vibrant colors. It was a great time to bond, share artistic vibes, and make lasting memories together! Thanks to everyone who joined in on the fun!

Stop by the Gallery in Morgantown to see our members' artwork on display until March 4. Participants in the Creative Collage Workshop will explore ways that collage might inspire and encourage individual creativity and artistic expression. This class is for the beginner or advanced artist interest in the art of collage. The instructor will demonstrate how to make various papers using a gelli plate. Participants should complete a finished collage by class end. Your browser does not support viewing this document. Click here to download the document. Learn a new painting technique using the batik method with watercolor. Watercolor batik is the process of using traditional watercolor paint and wax to create unique and beautiful batik-style paintings on Japanese rice paper.
Students will begin the process with a drawing and then learn to create highlights and shadows, as well as how to mask areas of the project with wax. This class is suitable for both beginner and experienced painters with little or no watercolor experience. Artists will create a multiple 12x16” batik paintings in the workshop. Irons, rice paper, electric skillets, newspapers, wax, and brushes for applying wax will be provided. Artists will need to bring watercolor paints, brushes, and suitable clothing (wax does drip and sometimes ends up on clothing). Artists can use reference photographs provided for their drawings or are welcome to bring a high contrast photograph or line drawing to transfer to rice paper. Watercolor Batik Supply List:
"If anyone is interested in purchasing supplies online I have created a blog page with Amazon links: https://rfoxphoto.com/watercolor-batik-supplies-and-equipment-for-creating-colorful-batiks-on-japanese-rice-paper/ I will be providing skillets, parrafin wax, brushes for wax, etc. I will also be brining paper- a few sheets for everyone. If anyone wants to create a bunch of paintings (I had one student working on 7 at once in a recent class) they are welcome to purchase some of their own paper. I don't have 7 sheets for everyone! 🙂 For more information there is a video on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/wbGigaAKJyU?si=_Fu_ZBgCmtbMHRuh " CURRENT MEMBERS
