** PROSPECTUS ART AT THE AIRPORT FALL 2023 SHOW
“Touching Down” will be the theme of the Fall 2023 Art at the Airport show, presented by the Morgantown Art Association in conjunction with the City of Morgantown and the Morgantown Airport Authority. The theme might inspire art that reflects at subject as literal as the landing of a hot air balloon or bird gliding onto the surface of a lake or as symbolic as arriving home after a long journey or having a cup of tea in front of a cozy fireplace. The show will include a special category of art with the theme “Balloons Over Morgantown,” in celebration of the University Toyota’s Morgantown Balloon Festival.
ELIGIBILITY: the exhibit is open to artists who are members or become members of the Morgantown Art Association at the time of the show. Membership information is available on the Association’s website, www.morgantownartassociation.com. All wall art must be properly matted/framed, wired for hanging and properly labeled. Sculptures and ceramics must be properly labeled and will be displayed in a glass-enclosed display case.
AWARDS: Cash prizes (made possible by University Motors) will be awarded as follows:
First Place $100
Second Place $75
Third Place $50
First Place—Photography $100
Second Place—Photography $75
Third Place—Photography $50
Honorable Mention (3 awards) $35 each
Best Representation of the “Balloons of Morgantown Theme” $100
(Each entry is eligible to win only one award.)
TAKE-IN: Entries should be brought to the Morgantown Airport on Monday, September 18 from 10 AM to 3 PM. Each artist will be able to enter up to three pieces in the show. All pieces must be in good condition and suitable for a show located in a public facility. Final decisions regarding acceptance of art for the show will be made by the Art at the Airport Committee. The exhibit will run thru December 2023, and entries should remain on display for that time.
LIABILITY: Pieces of art will be given reasonable care; however, neither the City of Morgantown, the Morgantown Airport Authority nor the Morgantown Art Association assumes any liability for damage or loss of any art.
The Awards Reception, open to the public, will be held on Thursday, September 21 at 5:30. Prizes will be awarded at that time. Artists are encouraged to attend the reception.
